I am looking for a new driver, and i am not sure which taylormade r9 driver to get: R9, R9 460, R9 Supertri? i have a semi-stiff shaft if that helps. Please tell me which one is better for me?|||r9 460 for its forgivness|||There's little difference between the three.
The original r9 is 430 cubic centimeters, has the movable weights and the adjustable hosel.
The r9 460 has a 460cc head, no movable weights and the adjustable hosel.
The SuperTri is a marriage of the two- it's 460cc, has the movable weights and the adjustable hosel. It has a different paint scheme.
Why they didn't just do that in the very beginning is beyond me. Of course, when you're tying to make a buck...
As far as which one is "best" for you, it doesn't matter, if you're properly fitted. Thirty cc's isn't very much, and it's negated further if you're fit for the right length, shaft flex, grip size and face angle. The movable weights, in my opinion, are a joke. There isn't enough weight in the screws to truly move the head's center of gravity location enough to have a discernable effect on ball flight. Besides, a bad swing will always create a bad result- no amount of weight in the toe or heel will really fix that.
The adjustable hosel is a push. Sure it's nice to be able to mess around with it, but done unsupervised it can only screw a person up. With the help of a fitter, you can get the setting that's best for you, then leave it be.
So, which one is "best"? The one that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg, or the one that looks best to you. Or both. That's it.|||Honestly get the cleveland hibore xls monster driver i know you probably wont even try it but i swear it is the easiest to hit thing on the planet. I was a 19 handicap when i got it and now im a 5. It did wonders for my game i hit every fairway and it goes so far i just have to hit a pitching wedge to the green. Dont waste your money on a 400 dollar R9 driver that wont actually change ur game get the Hibore. Please try it out it will do wonders for ur game
